5 scary things to do in Vancouver for Halloween (including “one of the scariest places in Canada”)

5 scary things to do in Vancouver for Halloween (including “one of the scariest places in Canada”)

The weather isn’t the only thing that’s been scary this October in Vancouver! We’re creeping up to Halloween and it’s time to get into the mood by giving yourself a good scare. Vancouver and the surrounding areas have no shortage of things to do this Halloween season to make you scream this year.

The five scary things are ranked below from not so bad to %#&@!. Are you going to be able to handle them all?

Stanley Park Ghost Train

Scary level: Suitable for kids

Location: Stanley Park

Dates: Open every day until October 31st

More entertaining than scary, the Stanley Park Ghost Train is suitable for older kids and their guardians. This year, the train follows Alice and the Not-So-White Rabbit through an endless series of stone doors and enter into a gothic nightmare world of tombs and tombstones, crypts and catacombs! (More info)

Fright Nights

Scary level: Scaredy-cats beware!

Location: PNE Fairgrounds

Dates: Now open every night until October 31st

The haunted houses at Fright Nights are scary enough, now add a couple of murderous clowns and creepy dolls following you around the fairgrounds. Fright Nights features blood-chilling rides, gripping live shows, haunted houses and much more. (More Info)

Potter’s House of Horrors

Scary level: Not for the faint of heart

Location: 12530 72nd Avenue, Surrey

Dates: Open until November 2, 2019

Every fall, the plant-filled garden centre in surrey is converted to a maze of terror with animatronics, high-tech scares, and trained actors. This year, there are two ultra-scary haunted houses, plus a more tame version for younger guests or those who would prefer not to be scared silly. If you’re looking for more fun, there is also an Escape Room that will have you solving clues and puzzles to escape from the building. (More Info)

Reapers Haunted Attraction & Maze of Terror

Scary level: Will have you second-guessing every shadow for the next month

Location:9423 Gibson Rd., Chilliwack

Dates: Open until October 31, 2019

Although it’s a bit of a drive, Reapers is worth the visit from Vancouver. Described as the “scariest indoor theatrical horror experience in Western Canada,” the house is not recommended for children under 10 years old. Plus, Reapers now has a blackout Maze of Terror with no light, filled with everything that goes bump in the night, including the Chainsaw Massacre experience, roaming the maze with, yes, a real chainsaw! 🙁  (More Info)

Maan Farms Haunted Corn Maze (otherwise known as, “one of the scariest places in Canada”)

Scary level: Nope. Nope. No thanks. Never. Nope.

Location: Maan Farms, 790 McKenzie Rd., Abbotsford

Dates: Open until November 2, 2019

Maan Farms has pushed the level of fear in this absolutely terrifying haunt that will have you experiencing fear like never before. First of all, they’ve got a haunted corn maze. Okay, great. Bring together my two biggest fears of being trapped and getting accosted by bloodthirsty murders. Ok, sounds like so much fun. And, now you’ve got an added feature called “Pitch Black”. Jeez louise, Maan Farms. The haunted corn maze just wasn’t enough, was it?? Now we’ve got the chance to “explore our darkest nightmares” and “interact with the demons of the darkness”. Yes, this experience allows those who opt-in to experience true interactivity by allowing themselves to be grabbed, held back, sent into hidden passageways, or even temporarily removed from their group. WOW. Just, wow. You owe me a new set of lungs after all the screaming I’m going to be doing. (More info)
