A different kind of shower
No need to be afraid and run for your life, the world is not ending. This Saturday (12) the annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to reach full peak. It’s time to sit on the grass and watch a lot (a lot!) of shooting stars – last year the rate was between 150-200 meteors per hour. The meteor shower will peak at 1 p.m. on August 12, which means the night before (August 11) and that evening will give you the biggest bang for your meteor watching buck.
The best spots to watch are always as far outside the city as possible but if you can’t head out of Toronto, the best spots are High Park, Tommy Thompson Park and Scarborough Bluffs/Bluffer’s Park Beach.
So run to the nearest spot and watch some meteors falling from the sky (don’t worry, they won’t hit you).
