What is Movember?
Movember is the month where men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.
Men (also known as Mo Bros) sign up online at Movember.com. Starting clean-shaven on November 1st, these men donate their face for 30 days by growing and grooming the best moustache they can muster. Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for men’s health raising funds and awareness along the way. Women (also known as Mo Sistas) play a key supporting role by signing up as team captains, recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds, and encouraging the men in their life to take action when it comes to their health.
Mo growth is seen around the globe each November. In 2014, official campaigns will be held in 21 countries across five continents.
Gala Parté
At the end of the Movember journey each year, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the world celebrate the month that was at an official Movember Gala Parté.
Held across Canada and around the world, these infamous costume extravaganzas offer Mo Bros and Mo Sistas the opportunity to come together to showcase their hairy achievement and celebrate the power of the Mo. These events are our chance to thank you – the Mo Community – for your collective fundraising and awareness efforts.
Movember Galas are open to everyone. During Movember, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas can raise $100 to secure a ticket (raise $200 for two tickets). Also, tickets can be purchased here.
Gala Partés done right are done in costume. Mo Bros and Mo Sistas went to extremes in 2013 dressing to suit their Mo or Mo Bro.
