The celebration of Oktoberfest dates all the way back to the City of Munich, Germany 1810. On Oct. 12 of that year, the Crown Prince Ludwig got married, and the whole city was invited to join the festivities.
A horse race marked the closing of the ceremonies, and the decision to repeat the races the following year paved the way for what would become a yearly tradition that is now celebrated all over the world.
